New Ensemble for Youth Handbell Ringers
Bells of the Lakes is proud to announce the formation the Northernlights Ringers, a talented group of teens from the Twin Cities area. Directed by Christy Gotzman, the ringers chose the name Northernlights Ringers to depict the excitement, beauty and energy of the group.
The Northernlights Ringers had their premiere performance in the Holidazzle Parade last year. The group rode on a float, wore lighted collars and glow-in-the-dark gloves, and rang without music
Rehearsals for Northernlights Ringers are held at Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church on Saturday Mornings and are open to anyone interested in observing. If you are interested in attending please contact the director, Christy Gotzman, (cgotzman @ fourthbaptist.org (without spaces) or call 651-486-8342) to arrange a time.
About the Director
Christy Gotzman fell in love with handbells while ringing at college. After college graduation and her husband’s seminary training, they took a youth ministry position in Michigan. An exciting part of that ministry was starting two youth bell choirs. She has been sharing her passion for bells with youth ever since. Ten years ago, she was asked to start the Junior High handbell choir at Fourth Baptist Christian School. The kids quickly fell in love with bells and what was once one choir evolved into seven. The energy Christy brings to the table inspires kids to set high goals and facilitates the opportunity for them to reach those goals.
