Bill Mathis is Minister of Music and Fine Arts at the Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church in Minneapolis, where he oversees a varied program of singing and ringing choirs and the acclaimed Music at Hennepin Series. Before coming to the Twin Cities, he filled similar positions in Ohio, Michigan, California, and Oklahoma. In addition to his work at church, Bill is an active clinician in both the choral and handbell fields.
As Chair of Director Education for the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers, Bill has responsibilities for events and policies serving this end. As a festival conductor and workshop clinician, he leads local, Area, and National AGEHR events, giving special emphasis to teaching rehearsal technique and musicianship. He has been the conductor of the Guild's National Festivals and the annual Directors' Seminar, as well as the Handbell Exploration.
His compositions can be found in the catalogues of fourteen publishers.
